ASP ARRESTS SUSPECT AFTER HIGH-SPEED PURSUIT, CRASH ON I-555; TWO BYSTANDERS INJURED

August 7, 2026

TRUMANN, Ark. — On Wednesday, Aug. 5, 2026, around 7 p.m., an Arkansas State Police (ASP) Trooper attempted to stop a Hyundai Sonata traveling northbound on Interstate 555 at the 24-mile marker for a traffic violation.

The driver, Laloyd L. Hamilton III, 32, failed to stop and accelerated to approximately 130 mph, initiating a vehicle pursuit. As the pursuit approached the 28-mile marker, the Trooper performed a Tactical Vehicle Intervention (TVI). The suspect’s vehicle collided with a third vehicle, causing it to overturn on the east side of I-555.

A 68-year-old woman and a 73-year-old man occupying the third-party vehicle were transported to Regional One Medical Center in Memphis with serious injuries.

Hamilton was transported to NEA Baptist Memorial Hospital in Jonesboro for evaluation. A search of the suspect’s vehicle resulted in the recovery of narcotics, including illegal marijuana, pills, and an unknown liquid substance.

Hamilton is currently being held in the Poinsett County Detention Center on the following charges: Felony Fleeing, second-degree Battery, Criminal Mischief, Possession with Purpose to Deliver a Controlled Substance, Possession of a Controlled Substance, Hazardous Driving, and Driving While Intoxicated.

The investigation is ongoing, and no additional information is being released at this time.
