Arkansas Forward savings reach $120.3 million
Arkansas Department of Health identified an additional $2.3 million in cost savings

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – Arkansas Forward, Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders’ initiative to reduce government spending by $300 million through savings and cost avoidance by the end of 2030, has identified $2.3 million in savings at the Arkansas Department of Health (ADH). Those savings bring Arkansas Forward’s verified total savings to $120.3 million.

The ADH is projected to save $1.27 million by ending leases for office space by the Tobacco Settlement Commission and the chiropractic, dental, and psychology licensing boards. Those offices moved to ADH-owned locations, saving $21,130 per month and $253,560 annually.

The ADH also eliminated leased regional offices in Batesville and Russellville, moving staff to existing Arkansas Health Units. This resulted in savings of $740,652, including $11,222 per month and $134,664 annually.

Additionally, the ADH transitioned to a state contract through the Office of State Technology for Adobe software. The move reduced the cost of each license from $253 to $137 for 474 employees, which equaled $279,563, including $4,583 per month and $54,996 annually.

Since its launch, Arkansas Forward has identified more than 300 opportunities to reduce costs and improve government services across the executive branch’s 15 cabinet-level departments. Those efforts span five key areas of state government: fleet management, information technology, personnel, procurement, and real estate.
