Defense Orientation Conference Association tour Little Rock AFB
With this collaborative goal in mind, members of the Defense Orientation Conference Association (DOCA) toured Little Rock Air Force Base to familiarize themselves with its unique mission capabilities, Aug. 27, 2026. The civic leaders went beyond the flightline to engage directly with key installations, experiencing the C-130J Super Hercules aircraft, the fuselage trainer, an advanced flight simulator, and the Warrior Airmen Readiness (WAR) Center.
By translating complex daily operations into shared experiences, these immersive visits help civilian influencers relate the importance of national defense back to their own communities.
DOCA was established in 1952 by alumni of the Joint Civilian Orientation Conference who felt it necessary to have more opportunities to learn about the nation’s security.
DOCA embodies civilian leaders who keep a pulse on military operations to stay current on America’s defense posture. It is composed of various leaders spanning from business to civil service members.
Each experience showed how Little Rock AFB, a premiere tactical airlift installation, contributes to national defense including some programs that are unique to Herk Nation. The WAR Center and Herkwerx are two programs that combine innovation with readiness, keeping our Airmen developed and prepared for today’s ever-changing mission.
“Any briefings, tours, demonstrations, and conversations willcontribute to their current understanding,” said U.S. Air Force Brig. Gen. (Ret) Bruce Burda, DOCA executive vice president. “This can make them aware of new issues and successes, and just overall better appreciate the great success, dedication, and national security impacts being made in Arkansas.”
The tangible hands-on experiences they received from the base tour help them to better understand the day-to-day life in the military and enables them to make decisions with true perspective behind them.
“This will add to previous trips to further enhance their understanding of DOD operations to make better decisions regarding discussions and recommendations to local and national organizations’ leadership,” Burda said.
The tour emphasizeda few of the base’s contributions to national defense through our tactical airlift and training pipeline for C-130Jpilots and loadmasters. Our training keeps the base ready to completethe mission and supports the greater Air Force with the newly qualified C-130J pilots and loadmasters.
